Mr. Grant Lanier Bruce, 64, of Pleasant Hill Road, Elberton, husband of 32 years to Penelope Coker Bruce, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Elbert Memorial Hospital.
Grant was born in Athens on August 6, 1961, son of the late Charles Thomas Bruce and Myriam Joan Smith Bruce.
Grant was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and a man whose life was rooted in family and the outdoors. He was deeply loved by his wife, Penelope, who was his partner and constant through life’s journey. He was a proud father to his son, Blaze, and cherished his daughter-in-law, Danielle, as part of his family.
Grant’s greatest joy in life was his grandchildren, Sutton and Tucker. They were the light of his life, and nothing brought him more happiness than time spent with them. Whether sharing stories, laughter, or simply being together, his love for them was endless and unconditional.
Grant enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially when those moments were shared with his son and grandson. Those days spent outdoors created memories that will be treasured forever.
Grant will be remembered for his strength, his deep love for family, and the joy he found in the simple moments—especially those spent with the people he loved most. His legacy lives on through his family and the memories they will carry in their hearts forever
Survivors include his wife, Penelope; son, Blaze Bruce and his wife Danielle; grandchildren: Tucker Bruce and Sutton Bruce; siblings: Susan Bruce, Janna Bruce, and Craig Bruce; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 8, from 1:00-1:45p.m. at Berry Funeral Home. Funeral services, officiated by the Rev. Bradley Hart, will follow at 2:00p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the Forest Hills Memorial Park with Tucker Bruce, Jeff Johnson, Mike Boyer, Kevin Sexton, Greg Black, Josh McClure, Chris Gay, and Jonathan Burnette serving as pallbearers and Chad Anderson serving as an honorary pallbearer.
