Greg passed away at home on August 7, 2025, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Greg LaNier Harris was born on August 27, 1945, in St. Petersburg, FL, to devoted parents Jack and Zelda Harris. He was raised in a very loving home along with his sisters, Cherri and Jackie.

Starting at a very young age, under the direction of his beloved dad, hunting and fishing became his life-long passions.

The mountains were his favorite place and he spent most of his free time there. A favorite vacation spot was the family cabin skillfully built by his parents in Clark Station in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Greg also had wonderful memories of spending time at Zaca Lake Resort in Los Olivos, CA, where his paternal grandparents were the caretakers and Greg, his sisters, their friends, and cousins had free reign to enjoy waterskiing and all of the food they wanted graciously prepared by Mom Harris.

Greg graduated from Yuba City High School in 1963. Shortly afterwards, he joined the United States Marine Corps and after two years of service, he attended Yuba College.

He married Vicki Bosen in 1966, and together they share three children, Shon, Nicol, and Shane. In 1967, Greg began his law enforcement career with the California Highway Patrol where he served in the San Leandro, CA, Vacaville, CA, and Vallejo, CA, areas.

Not long after, he was struck by a car while on duty and his injuries forced him into retirement. After he retired, he moved his family back to Yuba City, CA, where he held a variety of jobs including real estate broker and car salesman.

In 1986, he had rehabilitated enough to be able to return to the career that he loved and was reinstated as an officer in the CHP serving in North Sacramento, CA, Williams, CA, and the Yuba-Sutter areas.

In 2006, Greg met Angie Soukhaseum at another favorite location of his, the casino. Greg adored Angie and they became inseparable, enjoying close to 19 years together.

Greg and Angie traveled all over California but they especially loved traveling to her home country of Laos, and Reno, NV, where they were fond of staying at the Nugget Casino.

Through the years, Greg's outdoor adventures also took him to the high Sierras in California, Canada, Colorado, Idaho, Baja Mexico, and Nevada where he spent most of his time indulging his love of hunting, fishing, or playing cards with family and friends.

For several years, a favorite tradition of his was enjoying an annual birthday camping trip with Angie, his children, and grandchildren. He also became close to Angie's children and grandchildren, spending time camping and playing board games with them as well.

After his cancer diagnosis, Greg was able to travel to Reno, NV, one last time with Angie and Nicol and take a fishing trip with Shon, Shane, and son-in-law, Vance, as his final requests.

Greg was preceded in death by his cherished parents, Jack and Zelda Harris; as well as his treasured nephews, Ryan and Micah Bell.

He is survived by his wife, Angie Soukhaseum, of Yuba City, CA; son, Shon Harris, of Yuba City, CA; daughter and son-in-law, Nicol and Vance Nabeta, of Yuba City, CA; son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Nicole Harris, of Walnut Creek, CA; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; Angie's five children; several step-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Cherri and Gary Bell, of Yuba City, CA; sister and brother-in-law, Jackie and David Bryan, of Yuba City, CA; beloved best friend John Sloulin, of Yuba City, CA; and many special nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, Yuba City, CA, on his birthday, Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 10 AM, followed by a short graveside service at Sutter Cemetery, and a reception at 613 Bogue Rd., Yuba City, CA. All friends and family are invited to attend.
