Greg A. Lennartson

Gregory Alan Lennartson, age 69, of Cloquet, Minnesota passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on September 4, 1956, to Roger and Marcella (Bryant) Lennartson. Greg spent his childhood years in Esko, Minnesota and was proud to be part of the Esko High School class of 1975. There, he excelled at football and basketball, playing his way into the records as one of Esko basketball's top-ten point earners. Greg went on to further his education and also play on the football team at the University of Minnesota – Duluth. On May 15, 1976, he was united in marriage to Susan Hamann and the couple settled in Cloquet. Greg began his career with Franklin Foods, holding various roles in the company for over 30 years prior to his retirement. He then went on to work with the Minnesota Department of Transportation where he spent winters plowing and summers inspecting contractors. He was a member of both the Teamster's and AFSCME Unions. Greg was a dedicated employee with an unbeatable work ethic. In his spare time, Greg enjoyed the outdoors while hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. While his children were young, he maintained involvement in their sports by coaching football and hockey. He also served as a board member for the Cloquet Amateur Hockey Association. In recent years, Greg's grandchildren became the light of his life and being Grandpa became his most treasured role. He will be dearly missed.

Greg is remembered by his wife, Sue; children, Matthew (Sara), Dennis (Ashlee), and Cory (Angela) Lennartson; grandchildren, Kenzie, Noah, Nico, Beau, Gia, and Averie Lennartson; mother, Marcella Lennartson; siblings, Dale (Norma), Tom, and Jim (Ronda) Lennartson, and Cindy (Jim) Baker; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Lennartson.

The Lennartson family would like to extend deep gratitude to Dr. Dan Nikcevich and the rest of Essentia Health's medical and hospice teams for their compassionate care.

Services in honor of Greg's life will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will continue until the 11:00 a.m. memorial service. A luncheon will follow. Interment will be held in the spring at Hillside Cemetery in Carlton, Minnesota.
