Greg Vlasek Obituary
Greg Vlasek, 56, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Friday, April 18, 2025. A visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025, at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Greg was born February 14, 1969, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Ernest “Jim” and Karen (Shain) Vlasek. He graduated from Prairie High School in 1987 then proceeded to attend Kirkwood Community College. Following his graduation, he was accepted into the UA Local 125 Apprenticeship program. On November 8, 2002, Greg was united in marriage to Vickie McGee. Greg found immense satisfaction in a job well done – with his work as a business owner at Prime Mechanical, rebuilding Ford Mustangs and trucks, restoring John Deere tractors, raising Angus cattle, and stepping up to help whenever someone needed it.
Survivors include his wife, Vickie Vlasek; children, Will, Wyatt, and Weston Vlasek, all of Cedar Rapids; father, Jim Vlasek of Ely, Iowa; and siblings, Angie (Joe) DuBois of Chardon, Ohio, and Julie Ozmun, of Swisher, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Karen Vlasek.
