Gregoria A. Mendoza-Ocasio, 90, of Lorain, died February 25, 2024, at her residence following a short illness.
Born January 10, 1934, in Puerto Rico, she came to Lorain in 1954. Gregoria worked as an assembler at Ford Motor Co. for over nine years. She also worked for the Lorain Board of Education as a custodian and the former Lorain Community Hospital in housekeeping.
Gregoria and her late husband owned/operated El Rincon Criollo restaurant in Lorain for 16 years, retiring in the early 1990s.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel. She loved playing bingo, attending family events, and dancing with her husband.
Surviving are her children, Fanny Mendoza and Domingo Mendoza Jr.; son/grandson, Miguel A. Hernandez; step-son, Emigdio Hernandez; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Samual Lozada; and sister Maria Jimenez.
Preceded in death by her husband, Domingo Mendoza-Ocasio; stepson, Jose Antonio Hernandez; and several brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Ave, Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Friday at 8:45 a.m. followed by Mass at 9:30 am at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Ave, Lorain. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
