Gregory Wayne Abbott

Gregory Wayne Abbott, 63, of Springfield, died Tuesday October 16, 2012 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted Friday October 19th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Heflin officiating. Interment will follow in Robertson County Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Abbott was born August 14, 1949 in Detroit, MI. He was a retired construction manager and was of the Baptist faith. He served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Abbott was loved by his family and will be missed. He was preceded in death by his father: William Byrd Abbott and by his brother: Billy Abbott. Mr. Abbott is survived by his wife: Mildred Parks Abbott of Springfield, sons: Mike Abbott of California, Jimmy Abbott of Wyoming, William "Bubba" Smith and B.J. Samon both of Springfield, daughters: Lori Jones of Springfield, Toni Abbott of Canada, mother: Flora Maynard of Madison, brother: Dennis Abbott of White House, sisters: Gail McQuiston and Barbara Hunter both of Hendersonville, 13 grandchildren, and his loving pets: Delilah, George, and Rowdy.
