Gregory Ashley Obituary

Mr. Greg Ashley passed away after a brief illness on Friday, March 8, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy Carlyle Ashley and Marjorie Hill Ashley; brother-in-law, Richard Bell; and step-daughter, Renee McGuffie. Survivors include his wife, Melba McGuffie Ashley; daughter, Rachel Ashley Hall (Craig); step-sons, Randy McGuffie (Leslie), and Steven McGuffie; grandchildren, Dylan McGuffie, Haylee McGuffie, A'Marie McGuffie, William "Conner" Cheatwood, Mason Hall, Sarah Hall, and Cole Hall; sisters, Deborah Wilson (Jim), Cynthia Bell, Susan Gardner (Michael); and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Ashley, affectionately known as "Pops," loved his family and was a devoted father, husband, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was a graduate of Oxford High School, class of 1973, and active member of Harmony Baptist Church in White Plains, where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He was very involved with his grandchildren's sports teams and enjoyed helping coaches at White Plains Youth Athletic Association. In his free time, he loved watching his grandchildren play sports, golfing with friends, spending time with family members at "Heaven View Farm," gardening and watching Auburn football and basketball. As per Mr. Ashley's request, no funeral or memorial will be held.

I was so sorry to hear about Greg´s passing. We had some wonderful times out on the golf course. The last time I talked to him he said he couldn´t wait to get back out there. We are going to miss that great wit and the fun we had at Pine Hill Country Club.
