Gregory Baraniak Obituary

Gregory Paul Baraniak, MD, age 71, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on January 17, 2026.

Born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Gregory “Greg” was the beloved son of the late Albert S. Baraniak and Lyda Baraniak. From a young age, Greg displayed a deep sense of compassion and a calling to help others—qualities that would guide him throughout his life and distinguished medical career.

Dr. Baraniak began his professional journey in emergency medical services, serving with Citizens Ambulance Service (Med 4 Rescue 2) in Indiana, Pennsylvania, and later with the City of Pittsburgh EMS. He earned his medical degree from Xochicalco University School of Medicine in Ensenada, Mexico, and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at UPMC McKeesport in McKeesport, Pennsylvania.

Following his residency, Dr. Baraniak practiced with Florida Medical Group before opening his own private practice, Gregory P. Baraniak, MD, PA, where he served patients in Stuart and Port St. Lucie. He retired in 2019 after more than 34 years of devoted service to the community.

A gifted and compassionate physician, Dr. Baraniak was deeply loved by his patients and staff. Known for his intelligence, passion, and exceptional bedside manner, he was the doctor everyone hoped to have. To many, he was not only a physician, but also a trusted friend and a source of comfort and reassurance.

In 1995, Greg married the love of his life, Linda Baraniak, with whom he shared 30 years of marriage filled with love, partnership, and adventure.

Outside of medicine, Greg was an avid football fan with a strong interest in history. He loved RV travel and exploring new places, and in recent years especially cherished cruising the Caribbean and traveling through the Panama Canal.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Albert S. Baraniak and Lyda Baraniak; his son, Jason Baraniak; his brother, Albert J. Baraniak; and his brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Sanders.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Linda Baraniak, of Port St. Lucie, Florida; his son Sean Baraniak, of San Diego, California, and his wife Laura Baraniak, along with grandchildren Thaddeus, Kai, Winter, and Sage Baraniak; his daughter Lisa Bucek and her husband Cameron Bucek, of Port St. Lucie, Florida; and his son Kevin Graham, of Vero Beach, Florida, along with grandchildren Jayden and Kyle Graham.

He is also survived by his sister, Helen Jean Sanders, of Howell, New Jersey; his sister-in-law, Barbara Baraniak, of Indiana, Pennsylvania; his former spouse, Janet Baraniak, of Port St. Lucie; his beloved granddog, Maverick; as well as extended family members, dear friends, colleagues, and the many patients whose lives he touched.

Greg will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and unwavering commitment to caring for others. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he healed and the hearts he comforted.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Greg’s memory to the American Cancer Society and/or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date. Please contact the family for details.
