Gregory Noel Bose was born on December 25, 1947, to Herbert and Dorothy Bose. He spent his early childhood years in Scribner, Nebraska, and enjoyed time with his grandparents, William and Mary, on the Hines’ farm just northeast of Coleridge. Later, Dorothy married Marvin Hartung on February 16, 1954. Eventually, the couple moved the family to a farm just southeast of Coleridge, Nebraska.
Clearly, Gregory had an appreciation for farm living. He looked forward to feeding the cattle, pigs, and chickens, and cared for several family pets. He always managed to find time for any animal that found its way to the farm.
Gregory was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, and he attended Coleridge Community Schools. He enlisted in the United States Army after high school and returned home after being discharged. Gregory worked at Waldbaum’s Egg Plant in Wakefield, Nebraska; Lindsay Manufacturing in Lindsay, Nebraska; and Holmquist Grain Elevator in Coleridge, Nebraska. Eventually, he moved to Dixon, Nebraska, to work for the Dixon Grain Elevator.
Gregory met the love of his life, Nancy Treacle, courted her for several months, and married her on February 21, 1981, in the Dixon Methodist Church. Eventually, Greg and Nancy moved to Nancy’s hometown of Uhrichsville, Ohio. Gregory and Nancy were married for 42 years.
Gregory supported his wife’s involvement with the Boy Scouts of America and was considered a member of the troop. He was also a member of the Moravian Church of Uhrichsville, Ohio. Gregory’s wife, Nancy, provided home healthcare for him until her own health issues became challenging. She then requested that her sister, Edwina Varela, move in to aid with their care. After Gregory lost his beloved wife on August 25, 2023, he then relocated to Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge, Nebraska, the following year.
Gregory is survived by his brother, Herbert Bose of Hartington, Nebraska; brother and sister-in-law, Jeffrey (Julie) Hartung of Dixon, Nebraska; and sister, Dawn Hartung of Lincoln, Nebraska. Also surviving are his brothers-in-law William (Shirley) Treacle, Robert Treacle, James (Joann) Treacle, and sister-in-law Edwina Varela, along with many nieces and nephews.
Gregory was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; his parents, Herbert Bose, Marvin Hartung, and Dorothy Hartung; grandparents, William and Mary Hines and Ernest and Hilda Hartung; brother, Brent Hartung; sister-in-law, Sharon Bose; nephew, Spencer Bose; and parents-in-law James and Betty Treacle.
He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Nancy, in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover, Ohio.
