Gregory Eugene Cain, age 68, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026 at his home in San Angelo, Texas.

Greg was born July 2, 1958 in Andrews, Texas, the son of Tony Cain and Sondra Davis.

Greg was always a kind soul. He was fairly quiet even as a young child, though he had a small mischievous smile that said a lot. It was a trait that stayed with him throughout his life. That smile was often in response to children, particularly his nephews, nieces and their children. Late in his life Greg was blessed with a caregiver, Jo who often times brought her young daughters. Those visits brought him much joy, that was evident in his small smile. We will miss him and his smile.

Greg's passion growing up in San Angelo was sports. He loved watching football (especially the Dallas Cowboys!) and playing golf. The highlight of his golf career was playing on the 1975 San Angelo Central High School state championship golf team. The team was inducted into the San Angelo Central High School Hall of Fame in 2016.

Greg also loved to travel. Among many other places, he had great pleasure going to Las Vegas with his friends and especially enjoyed his recent trip to Jamaica with all of the family.

Professionally, Greg worked in the construction industry. He worked for more than 40 years with Concho Concrete and its successors, rising to be the San Angelo Area manager. Anyone who worked with Greg would recognize his work ethic and commitment to getting the job done. His family was very proud of all the things Greg accomplished and the way he conducted himself.

The Family is eternally grateful to Molly, Jo and Bailey for their loving care and undying friendship of Greg.

He is survived by his brother, Randy Cain (Jyl), sister Ginger Walker (Kent), nieces Courtney Kuhn (Tim), Meredith Nunnelly (Vince), Camille Cain, Sam Walker, all of who loved their Uncle Greg very much. Not to be forgotten among the nieces and nephews is Greg's nephew Collin Walker. The family is comforted knowing they are reunited and no doubt constantly discussing football.

A celebration of the life of Greg Cain will be held on Saturday, January 10 at 2pm at the Harper Funeral Home Chapel.
