Gregory Dawain Davis, 68, of
Delco, North Carolina, passed away at his home on Saturday, March 7, 2026. Known affectionately by many as "Papa G,".
He was born on January 1, 1958 in
Greenville, SC to the late Cecil J Davis and Alene Hardy Roberts Davis Osborne. In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by his stepfather; William Claudie Osborne.
Papa G lived a life defined by hard work, deep faith, and devotion to the people he loved most. Papa G dedicated 44+ years of his life to working as a boiler technician, a career that reflected his strong work ethic, skill, and reliability. He took pride in his work and in providing for his family, always willing to lend a helping hand or share his knowledge with others.
Outside of work, Papa G was an avid hunter who cherished time spent in the outdoors. Whether in the woods at sunrise or sharing stories afterward, those moments brought him great joy. He was also well known among friends and family as the dependable "hauler of snacks," always making sure everyone had something to eat and a reason to smile.
Papa G also enjoyed cooking and often used that gift to serve others. He was known for helping cook at community and church fundraisers, where his food brought people together and supported good causes. Through these moments, and many conversations along the way, he took pride in encouraging and mentoring young men, offering guidance, wisdom, and a steady example of faith, responsibility, and kindness.
More than anything, Papa G loved his family. He treasured the time spent together and was a steady presence of support, humor, and guidance in their lives. His faith in the Lord was central to who he was and shaped the way he lived-kindly, humbly, and with gratitude.
Papa G will be remembered for his generous heart, his dedication to his work, his love of the outdoors, and the deep care he had for those around him. His legacy lives on in the family and friends who were blessed to know him.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved, but the love, wisdom, and memories he shared will live on in the hearts of those who knew him best.
