Gregory Scott Ivory, affectionately known as "Greg," was born on September 21, 1959 to the late Ora Lee Gaithers and the late Roosevelt Scott. Greg was educated by the Public School District of Philadelphia, where he was known to be a phenomenal basketball player.
In his prime you could always catch him on the court. Or enjoying good times and music in the courtyard with his friends. Tina Marie was always one of his favorite singers! He had hopes of becoming a famous NBA player one day. Ultimately Greg's vision shifted to the kitchen where he dedicated over 45 years of his life to being a chef!
During his journey Greg worked a variety of different restaurants. In 1996, Greg moved to Harrisburg Pennsylvania where he worked as a chef in several area restaurants. Most notably was his tenure as Executive Chef at Michael's Cafe in Clarks Ferry. He retired from the Waterfront Bar & Grill in Marysville in 2021. Greg was hard working and dedicated to his craft, he considered many customers and coworkers as close friends.
Very outspoken and friendly, a real jokester. One who would have you laughing for hours, he was warm loving and charismatic! Lighting up the room with his eyes, that smile and his laughter! Greg touched the lives and hearts of everyone that he encountered.
When he wasn't cooking, Greg would be preparing to watch his favorite sports. You could always find him cheering on the Philadelphia 76ers and the Philadelphia Eagles - his two favorite teams. Greg was such a die-hard fan that he always insisted the Boston Celtics would forever be bums "because of Larry Bird!"
Greg leaves to mourn and cherish his life his three children: Sabrina and Sharmaine Norfleet, and Gregory Scott Ivory, Jr.; five grandchildren: Tyrelle Ivory, Sa'Bria and Tariq Lyons; Gregory Scott Ivory IlI, and Za'Kai Lee Ivory; one great grandson Zaa'Kir Lyons; one nephew Timothy Ivory; one great nephew Keenan Ivory; one great niece; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Greg was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather Ora Lee and Shelton Gaither, his father Roosevelt Scott, brother Albert and his wife (Cynthia), sister Jaqueline; one very close and dear friend of over 50 years, Micheal Mackins, and his life partner, Amy Miller Campbell.
For the last 25 plus years of his life, Greg shared a home in rural
Newport, PA with Amy, until her untimely death last October, and his dog and constant companion, Ricky. Her family became his extended family who also grieve his loss: Shane and Heather Campbell family; John and Sharon Brodisch family; Craig and Jill Seaman family; and Patti Johnson family.
A memorial service will be scheduled at the discretion of the family.
