Greg Patton Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gregory Lynn Patton "Greg." He was born December 11, 1949, in Hammond, Indiana, to parents, Ray Patton & Ethel Ann Jones Patton. He moved to Pomona, California, at the age of four and was raised there with his siblings. Greg was a devoted husband to Sandra Lee Patton and amazing father of six children.

Greg went to school in Pomona, California, and graduated from Ganesha High School.

Greg met the love of his life Sandra Stephens when they were just teens in high school. Greg married Sandy on February 6, 1971, in Montclair California. Greg and Sandy lived their lives for their children.

A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints. He was a convert and baptized in Upland California October 15, 1987. He was sealed to Sandra Lee Patton on July 20, 1996.

He was a hardworking man, dedicated to his family-everything he did was for them. He worked at In-N-Out Burger in Pasadena California, as an Operations Manager for many years. Greg was known as "The General" and "The backbone" of the company throughout his time there. Greg's work ethic was unmatched and because of his problem-solving abilities, ingenuity, and unmatched loyalty, he received several awards and commendations for creating new ways of problem solving. Greg later moved to Oregon, and became a Millwright for Seneca Sawmill.

He was a unique person. People gravitated towards him, and he accepted, loved, & mostly teased them all with his dry sense of humor. He was compassionate, loving, caring, attentive, and hilarious. If you were around Greg, you were guaranteed to laugh because he had a great story for or about you.

Greg loved spending time with his family, landscaping and continually working on the yard, he enjoyed target shooting, fishing, and going on rides in the wilderness. He loved classic rock & roll. He had an eclectic taste in music and loved everything from Brian Adams to Ted Nugent.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Patton & Ethel Self, his brother Dean Patton, and his beautiful daughter Tamera Lynn Patton. He is survived by his daughters, Marie Schneiter and Laurie Patton; sons, David (Angela) Patton, Mark (Holly) Patton, Clinton (Kim) Patton; grandchildren, Jasmine Tippit, Desiree Tippit & Dakota James, Hayley & Evan Hays, Wyatt & Marina Tippit, Gabriel Patton, Anthony Wood & Lexie Sanford,, Hannah & Noah Gilbert, Isaac Patton, Alyssa Patton, Aaron Patton, Isabella Patton, Ryan Patton, Ester Patton, David Patton, Kenneth Patton, Emily Patton, Gideon Patton, Joseph Patton, and Miriam Patton; his great-grandchildren, Westyn Krump, Krew Wood, Ronnie Jo Wood, Ellie Jean Hays, & Rosa Sandy Tippit; his siblings, Candace & Aytch Roberts, Sande Duncan, & Timothy Patton.

Dad, we will miss you, immensely. You were our "go-to" when life got rough, you were our sanity in this crazy world, and our comfort when we needed clarity. You were always someone we could count on, and although you were a straight shooter, you always got your point across without judgement and always provided us sound advice. You always gave it 110% and never stopped fighting for what is right. Because of you, we have valiant hearts, the love of our family, and an insane work ethic. We thank you dad for all your wise words of advice, the love you gave us and the beautiful lives we have lived because of you, your hard work, and your abundant love for us. We are all better people, Dad, because of you. We will forever keep you in our hearts with God.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery.
