Gregory John Pogodzinski was born on December 28, 1952 in Stanley, WI, the son of Walter J. and Theresa J. (Potazek) Pogodzinski. He was raised on the family farm and received his elementary education at Field School, and graduated from Thorp High School in 1971. While in high school, Greg worked at Wild Cherry Cheese Factory, and continued working there until 1976. He then purchased his own farm. He was united in marriage to Karen P. Kolpack on January 29, 1977 at St. Peter-St. Paul Catholic Church in Gilman, WI. They farmed together until their divorce in 1994. Greg moved into Thorp and began working at Benchmark, now Wisconsin Bench. In 2013, he also worked weekends for a short time at North Hendren Dairy in Willard WI.
He had many interests, but especially loved hunting, fishing, watching football, camping, playing pool, throwing darts, bowling, but most of all he loved attending his grandchildren's events.
Greg will be dearly missed by his daughters: Bobbie (Daniel) Neisius of Thorp, Ann Batteen of Thorp, Ellen (Aaron) Kromrey of Osceola, WI, Carrie Hempleman of Thorp; 11 grandchildren: Sebastian (Faith) Neisius, Waylan Neisius, Ivan Neisius, Dorian Neisius, Kalvin Lara, Emma (Nate Guralski) Lara, LiliAnn Batteen, William Batteen, Shelby Kromrey, Hunter Kromrey, and Damian (Katelyn) Pogodzinski; 2 great grandchildren: Anthony and Aurora Neisius; his mother: Theresa Dombrowski of Thorp; 4 siblings: Vincent (Kathy) Pogodzinski of Lake Holcombe, WI, Russell (Nancy) Pogodzinski of Cadott, WI, Florian Pogodzinski of Thorp, and Bridget Sorenson of Eau Claire; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter J. Pogodzinski; one granddaughter, Victoria K. Pogodzinski; his brother, Walter Pogodzinski in infancy; and his son-in-law, Jason Hempleman.
