Gregory R. Polites

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gregory R. Polites, age 71, of Selbyville, DE, who departed this life on March 17, 2026. Gregory was born on September 3, 1954, in Towson, MD. and was the son of the late Richard Gregory Polites and Doris Virginia (Pumphrey) Polites.

Gregory was a Senior Vice President of Cash Vault Operations (Eastern U.S.) for Brinks and Dunbar Armored Car.

Gregory is survived by his beloved spouse, Julia A. Polites; children, Stephen G. Polites (Valerie) of Eldersburg, MD, Amy L. McKinlay (Malcolm) of Hampstead, MD, Douglas J. Polites (Mildred) of Milford, MA and Catherine L. Polites (Maris) of Glasgow, Scotland; his cherished grandchildren, Olivia, Ella, Isabel, Oryn, Josie, and James; as well as his brother, Christopher Polites.

Greg was a wonderful man who knew the importance of being fair, loyal and creating memories of wherever he was.

Music was a staple in Greg's life. He was in 8th grade as the youngest member playing with the Colts Marching Band. He continued his passion for music playing trumpet and singing backup vocals with the band, Beginnings, as a young man.

He was a true Baltimore sports fan rooting on the Orioles and Ravens with his family.

He enjoyed spending time outside, woodworking, gardening, running, reading, walking on the beach with his wife and playing with his grandchildren.

Greg loved his family and his "very bad dogs," Sophie, Lucy and Harvey.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Bishop-Hastings Funeral Home, 19 S. Main Street, Selbyville, DE 19975. A visitation will be held one hour before the service.
