Gregory Rawls Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Woody Home for Services on Sep. 7, 2024.
Gregory Lee Rawls was born July 31,1957 to the late Tedious Sr. and Dorothy Rawls in Miami, Florida' Gregory was educated and graduated in the Newark school system. Gregory decided to join the United States Army.
Gregory was an amazing Brick Mason. He worked on the same job for 20 years. His work was of excellent craftmanship and was highly praised and appreciated.
Gregory was a man of many talents. Firstly, on the basketball court. He was said to be a wizard and had extraordinary skills. Also, Gregory was an artist, even in his sickness he continued his artistry, which by itself was extraordinaire because of his limited vision.
Gregory had a heart of gold, a laugh that was infectious and a smile that was contagious and soothing. Once he smiled at you, no matter how you were feeling, you not only smiled back, you felt better! His generosity and kind nature made you want to be around him. Truly knowing Greg was to love Greg.
No one loved Greg more than Mama. When his health began to fail, and the doctors' diagnoses were all in, Mama realized that he needed not just her love and care but also extensive medical care. She did everything, finding and using every resource available to make sure all his medical needs would be met. Mama continued to stay strong in her faith and in prayer. She also had us, her children, praying because our family was taught to be each other's protectors. In our astonishment, because of his failing health, while we were ending our prayer with the familiar closing Amen, Gregory would chime in at the right time and say Amen.
We will miss Gregory; however, we salute Greg in his ability to endure all his ailments and continue to fight, but God, thank you for knowing best that it was time for him to rest.
Preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Annette Rawls; niece, Ashley Brown and great-nephew, Shamori Brown. He leaves to cherish his memories: sister, Mary Ann Rawls; brother, T. John Rawls (Denise); nieces/nephew: Keia, Brittany, and Ryan; great nieces/nephews: Daquan, Briana, Nayla, and Zekhi and a host of loving uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
