Gregory Ring Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crown Cremation Services - Tualatin on Jan. 19, 2024.
Gregory Palmer Ring was born April 16th, 1952 in Minneapolis Minnesota to Dean Merrill Ring and Jane Ann Emley Ring.
Greg's father was in the Air Force and was training to be a surgeon. He was stationed in Rantoul, Illinois and eventually went to Fairbanks, Alaska. Younger brother Richard Dean was born during this active duty time. The family relocated to California after Greg's father died in 1959. The extended family of his Uncle Dave and Aunt Joanne along with cousins Deb, Davey and Diney became that second important family for them.
Greg attended schools in the Bay Area and graduated from Redwood High School in 1970. His mother, brother and new stepfather moved back to Montville New Jersey during that summer. Meanwhile, Greg left for college and went to Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon.
It was at Pacific University that Greg met his future wife, Victoria Joy Nauyok. They began dating October 3rd, 1970 and were married May 27th, 1973. Both Greg and Vicki finished their degrees at Portland State University. Greg received a Bachelor of Science.
Greg's greatest gift was being able to relate to people. In 1974 he attended a training of Evangelism Explosion, and it changed his life forever. He began witnessing door-to-door relating to people with his handwritten presentation of the Gospel. These handwritten materials had only a few minor updates and were used by Greg for over 49 years.
Greg's vocation was in commission sales. He was able to set his own schedule and be independent in working and excelling at these jobs. He worked for the World Book Encyclopedia until 1985 and then began a 35 year career working as a sales rep for the National Federation of Independent Business, also known as NFIB. He gained memberships by meeting with small business owners about the lobbying affecting them
.
Greg and Vicki welcomed two amazingly wonderful children into their marriage: Daniel Gregory, born June 16th, 1982 and Valerie Joy, born April 16th, 1985. Greg was able to see both Danny and Valerie grow into adulthood, begin their careers, get married, and lead lives of wisdom and integrity.
In addition to evangelism, Greg was committed to serving in his church throughout his life. He developed several hobbies, one was creating a pond sanctuary in his backyard a project that lasted almost 30 years. In the backyard there were plaques of scripture that Greg placed strategically to use in his prayer time outside. Another newer hobby was target shooting/ Greg used that as a chance to invite others from New Life Church as well as family members and friends.
Greg Ring is survived by his wife of 50 years Vicki, his son Danny, daughter Valerie, daughter-in-law Faren, and son-in-law Caleb. His extended family survivors include Aunt Joan, Deb, Dave, Diney, and nieces Cassie and Jennifer and their mother Martha.
The work that Greg began in evangelism is his legacy and will continue through his family. He invites you to follow the website below to learn more about a relationship with Jesus. www.trust-jesus.org/gregring
