Gregory Robinson Obituary

Gregory C. Robinson
Born: February 28, 1964
Died: November 26, 2021
On Friday, November 26, 2021, Gregory Charles Robinson, 57, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday at First Congregational Church of La Salle, IL with Rev. Lee Iseley officiating. Burial will be in Peru City Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7:00 PM in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle. Additional visitation will be in the church on Friday from 9:00 AM until time of services.
Greg was born to W. Thomas and Lorena Robinson in Peru on February 28, 1964. Greg grew up on his family farm in La Salle. He enjoyed helping on the farm, trapping, hunting, fishing, riding horses, 4H and hanging out with friends. After high school, Greg went through the electrical apprenticeship, while going to night school for his associate degree at IVCC. After becoming a journeyman electrician, he followed Phyllis to Northern Illinois University where he received his bachelor's degree in marketing in 1989. Following his degree, Greg accepted a position with Steiner Electric, where he proudly served for nearly 32 years as a successful account manager. On November 25, 1989, Greg married his wife Phyllis Marie Sale in Peru. Greg and Phyllis moved to Sycamore in 1990 and were blessed with two children, Brandon Gregory, and Catie Lynn.
Greg was a rock to everyone in his life. He was the hardest working, most caring and loving person anyone could hope to know. Greg had a love of outdoor adventures including hunting, fishing, skiing, snowmobiling and hiking. He shared that love with his wife and passed it along to his children. Greg and Phyllis acquired a cabin in Wakefield, MI in 2007 where they enjoyed all of these passions as well as frequently entertaining friends and family.
Greg was preceded in death by his father W. Thomas Robinson.
Greg is survived by his wife Phyllis (Sale), his Son Brandon (Emily) Robinson of Brooklyn, WI, his daughter Catie (Ryan) Stoos of New Lenox, IL, his mother Lorena Robinson of La Salle, IL, his brothers William Robinson of Zionsville, IN, James "Barry" (Lorraine) Robinson of Westlock, AB, CA, and Richard (Elaine) Robinson of La Salle, IL.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mayo Clinic towards Parkinson's research and cure.

Phyliss,
We were truly shocked and sad to hear of Greg´s passing. Please accept our deepest sympathies. I was blessed to have Greg as the sales representative from Steiner while I worked at Fitzgerald´s Electrical for 17 years. Greg absolutely knew the electrical industry inside and out. I watched Greg in some very difficult situations and he always was kind, patient, understanding and did what ever necessary to correct the issue without ever getting frustrated. One of my fondest memories was whenever I asked Greg if he would drop off an order at my house (we lived 1 1/2 miles apart). He is answer was sure I will drop it off and I will put it by the toilet! Only our friends and neighbors will be able to recall the toilet near our garage, it was a flower pot for years. We are praying for you and your family.

To Catie and her family, I want you to know how saddened I am to hear of your loss. Though I didn't know your father well, I am reading of this wonderful man and thinking that I am grateful that one of my second graders was so fortunate to call him "Dad." I remember him as "one of my parents" and am heartbroken for you. So many of my students have lost parents recently, and since you are all still "one of my kids," it does make a really sad connection for me. Please extend my thoughts to the rest of your family, and know that you will among those I pray for at night. Blessings....Donna Hill

We miss Greg so badly already. We many times do not share how we feel towards someone until we no longer have the opportunity.
Greg was so kind and generous to us with his time and giving to our passions such as CASA and other organizations. he took time to show interest in our kids as they grew up and married and had kids of their own. He spent time visiting with our employees on his weekly visits to our office. Greg was part of our family, and of course we looked for ward to baked goods from Elleson's.
Greg always was honest and professional in his job and personal life. I loved golfing with him, even though we struggled most of the time.:)
Greg will be sorely missed by all of us.

Greg was such a sweetheart. I met him over 20 years ago when I joined the Finney's Electric team. He was our Steiner rep and boy did know his stuff. We will miss him. My heart breaks for his family. Sending prayers out to all.

I am absolutely heartbroken by the news of Greg´s passing. He was so much more than a past co-worker to me. I hope that his family finds comfort in knowing that Greg had such positive impact on so many peoples lives. Any time someone hung up the phone in the office and you heard "I wish all account managers were like him" you just knew they had gotten off the phone with Greg. Even though I haven´t worked with Greg in a little over a year, I go out to Sycamore every other week to get my stepkids & I always found myself wishing that I would run into Greg while out in that area just so I could say Hello. Now next weekend while I´m out there I´ll have to stop at the bakery and get some donuts and cinnamon bread in remembrance of Greg.

Phyllis, Brandon and Catie:
We seriously cannot believe this! We loved you guys and had so many great times together, skiing and playing dice in Wisconsin. Our sincere sympathies are with you all and flood you with love and support. Greg, truly a wonderful, kind, gentle, level headed guy who always had a smile and laugh. Craig and I and the boys will keep you in our hearts and prayers. You are so strong and will get through this most difficult loss. Love you guys so much.

Dear Greg Robinson family,

I'm so very sorry to learn today that Greg is gone. Greg will be missed will never be forgotten. I have nothing but only great memories of Greg and I always enjoyed his company! Greg was a great salesperson and friend. On the morning of 3/27/17 I met Greg to make a joint sales call at Rochelle Community Hospital and I asked Greg if I could have a moment to take his photo before we went in to visit the customer. Here is Greg looking forward to our call together and in the white box on his car is a box of bakery donuts. For the customer :)
