Greg Rolewski of Huntley passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 26, 2025. He was born to the late Dorothy and Hank Rolewski on October 10th, 1956 in Chicago. As a Chicago native, he truly loved his sports, his passion led him to play for several recreational teams in softball and hockey. He graduated from Crown High School in 1974. He married the love of his life, Deb (Jeeninga) Rolewski on September 7th, 1983 and had their first child, Donna Jeen in 1984. Their second child, Anna Marie in 1988 and had their third child, Dana Lynn in 1989.
A hard-working man his whole life, he was a manager at Precision Twist for 23 years, a manager at Weber Grill for 5 years, and he finished his career with McHenry County Sheriff’s Department with a 19 year service. Filled with so many stories as a Correctional Officer, he truly loved his career and working alongside his fellow officers.
Respected and loved by many, he was always the life of any party. He loved a good Whiskey Old Fashioned, ‘going to church’ AKA the Blackhawks/Sox games, and traveling with his family. He was an avid music fan, especially of the Moody Blues and Tom Petty. He had been to countless concerts throughout his life, and never wanted to miss any opportunity to spend that time with those that he loved. He always put his family first; cheering on his girls at every choir concert, softball game, or graduation, he was sure to be heard with the loudest and longest whistle. So goofy and filled with the perfect one liners, he made friends with everyone that he crossed paths with.
He is survived by his loving wife Deb. His daughters and sons-in-law Donna (John Epperson), Anna (Richard Semtner), and Dana (Josh Fagan). His three wonderful grandchildren who he was so proud of, Avery Elizabeth Epperson, Clayton John Epperson, Elliot Scott Semtner, and Baby Fagan. Also survived by his two brothers Kevin Gilliland (Joann), and Patrick Gilliland, and numerous nieces and nephews who absolutely adored him. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Steven Gilliland, David Gilliland, and sister Georgia Brown.
