Mr. Gregory Lopez Sanders

SANDERS, Mr. Gregory Lopez - Age 58, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2023. Family hour 10:30 AM Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Second Friendship Baptist Church, 6046 N. Clio Rd., Mt. Morris, MI. with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Rev. Rodney Williams, officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 AM Saturday. Mr. Sanders will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday. Mr. Gregory Lopez Sanders was born June 1, 1965 in Smackover, Arkansas, to his proud parents, Jeremiah and Johnnie Sanders. At the tender age of one, Greg and his family would move to Flint, Michigan, a city in which he fondly and lovingly called home. He graduated from Flint Central High School, "Class of 1983." Upon graduating from high school, Greg secretly enlisted in the United States Army instead of entering into college. In the army, Greg had the opportunity to travel the world and spoke highly of his time served. He was Honorably Discharged in 1985 and explored other avenues for employment afterwards. Greg was a family man, and there was nothing more that he enjoyed than being in the presence of his family. He shared a close bond with each of his siblings, whether it was trying to fix cars with Perry, playing pool with Nate, arguing with Net, cracking jokes with Mike or making fun of San for her country accent. His bond extended to his nieces and nephews, many of which he had given nicknames such as "Quelly Dog" followed by barking noises, Monie monee with ee's dragged out and of course Sco. Uncle Greg was known for always providing pizza, having Now or Laters in his pocket and always ready with good advice and a great laugh. Greg was also a husband. He married Felicia Scott on August 6th, 2005, the two were married for 18 years. Through every up and down they always remained loving by each others sides. The title that gave Greg the most joy in life was being called "Dad". Nothing in this lifetime made Greg as proud or as happy as his girls. It was often joked that Greg had a dollar, he would give each of his daughters a quarter and then some. He was one of the greatest dad's this world has ever seen. Mr. Gregory Lopez Sanders leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Felicia Scott of Flint; 3 daughters, Wau'Nesha Sanders of Arlington, TX, Myah Sanders of Cincinnati, OH and Mariah Sanders; 2 step-children, Quanesha Sallad and Jerome Royster, all of Flint; grandchildren, Stavon Watkins, Daryl Vaughn, Ja'Kharie Royster, Devin Vaughn, Constance Watkins, Sa'Mylah Royster, Samora Royster and Samia Royster; mother, Johnnie Sanders; 2 sisters, Sandra (Anthony) Cureton of Smackover, AR and Elizabeth Sanders; 3 brothers, Micheal Kilgore, Perry Sanders, all of Flint and Nathaniel (Shawana) Sanders of Grand Blanc, MI; a host of nieces and nephews; 2 aunts, Palestine Love and Jannifer Williams, both of Flint; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Fabian Berry, Fredrick Riddle and Kevin Hunter.
