GREGORY SCHMIDT Obituary

GREGORY DALE SCHMIDT Gregory Dale Schmidt, Roscoe, Illinois, passed away June 8, 2024. He was born in McPherson, Kansas, to Glen Dale and Betty Jean (Banks) Schmidt of Galva, where he grew to adulthood. By faith, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized at the Galva Christian Church April 11, 1965. After graduation from Galva High School he served in the Navy from 1970-1976. He married Barbara Mueller and they had two sons; Gregory Dale Jr. and Daniel Thomas Schmidt. He married Vickie Goelz Bell in McPherson March 22, 1980, and her two daughters Kristi Lynn and Kimberly Kay completed his family. Greg was employed as a finishing engineer with various corporations, retiring in 2015 and moving with Vickie to Belize, South America, where they built a home and lived for 4 years before returning to the States. He enjoyed fishing, cruises, and home renovation projects. Greg was preceded in death by his parents, great grandson Ekko Cade Reynolds and brothers-in-law Clifford King and Reed Koehn. He is survived by his devoted wife, Vickie, children Greg Jr. and partner Bretta, Daniel, Kristi Clark (Jeremy), Kimberly Lawson (Scott), eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Marilyn King (Julian Gladney), Moundridge, Teresa Weaver (Adam), New Holland, PA, and brother Tracy Schmidt (Susan), Galva, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Cremation has taken place. A local memorial service will be held at a later date.
