Gregory Walter Seifried passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at his home in Glenshaw. He had been fighting an unexpected battle with cancer. Greg was born in Pittsburgh on May 23, 1959 to Marie (Richetti) Seifried and the late Walter Seifried. He is survived by his wife Arlene (Perry) Seifried, daughter Erica Seifred (James) Byers, son Christopher Seifried, and grandsons James, Nolan, and Parker Byers. Greg is also survived by his sister Donna Seifried (Daryl) Krausa and brother Steve (Dawn) Seifried; niece Elizabeth Seifried and nephew Steven Seifried. Greg attended Peabody High School, class of 1978, where he played varsity football. He also graduated with an Associate’s degree from the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. He recently retired from his 30-year career at Pittsburgh Regional Transit, where he was a member of the Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 85. There he worked as a mechanic and eventually transitioned to emergency services. Greg had a great love for sports. He was a member of the St. Bonaventure golf league for many years. He also coached baseball for Shaler Township youth leagues De Haven and Braun Jeffery. In his spare time, Greg enjoyed working on cars and flying radio-controlled airplanes. Gentle, kind, generous and loving, Greg was adored by everyone. He loved spending time with his family, especially for every Steeler game, and enjoyed making everyone laugh. Greg will be greatly missed by all. Friends will be received at Bock Funeral Home, Ltd. 1500 Mount Royal Blvd. Glenshaw on Sunday from 1:00 to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Matthew Parish, St. Bonaventure Church on Monday at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers, we ask you to donate to the American Cancer Society.
