Gregory Six Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Arner Funeral Chapel - Chester on Jan. 23, 2025.
Gregory D. Six Sr., 66, of New Cumberland, passed at his residence on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
He was the first born to Joanne Wehner Six and the late Norman Six on August 13, 1958 in Iowa City, IA.
Greg was a 1977 graduate of Oak Glen High School where he was an all-state football player and state place wrestler his senior year. After graduation, Greg joined his dad to work the family business and in 1990 they formed Six Recycling, where he worked until retiring as President of the Company after 34 years. During his time there, he kept a watchful eye on the scales and developed a knack for collecting antiques and anything that wasn't "junk" because according to him, "junk is a 4-letter word."
Greg served as an Oak Glen Alumni Association Vice President, where he also spent many hours volunteering on various projects such as the Oak Glen paver project, the Bears Den, the Barb & Carl weight room renovations, and the OGHS Physical Education walking trail.
As an avid outdoorsman, Greg enjoyed fishing and hunting, going on many trips including Lake Erie, Canada, the Gulf of Mexico & elk hunting in Colorado. Greg loved sports and was a die-hard Steeler fan and WVU football fan. His love of sports and dedication to his alma mater led him to assist in coaching Oak Glen wrestling for 14 years, from the pee wee level through high school. Greg loved spending time with family and his many close friends and was a very proud Pappy to his 4 grandchildren.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Cynthia Linger Six, whom he married on May 31, 1980. He is also survived by his children, Gregory Six II (Briana) and Carlie Reynolds (Matthew). He leaves behind his grandchildrenKeegan and Asher Reynolds, and Zella and Silas Six, his mother and father-in-law Dr. Jerry and Polly Linger, siblings Brian (Emily), Mary Anne Woofter (Jeff), Kay Six, Amy Fuller, Steve (Amy), Frank, Ray (Angie), along with many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his canine companion, Caesar.
A celebration of Greg's life will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Arner Funeral Chapel at 11 AM, with visitation for friends and family from 9–11 AM prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association at P.O. Box 7023 Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
