Greta Ann Dobbs Pinckney INDEPENDENCE, VA - Greta Ann Dobbs Pinckney, of Independence, VA, entered into eternal rest on Saturday February 18, 2023, at her residence. She passed away at the age of 92. She was born in Atlanta, GA, on August 11, 1930, to the late Clarence Field Dobbs, Sr. and Louise Tatum Dobbs. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Richard Shubrick Pinckney, Jr.; an infant daughter, LuAnn Pinckney; brother, Clarence Field Dobbs, Jr.; special friend, Catherine Braunschweig. Ann graduated from Memminger High School Charleston, SC in 1947. She was a member of the Cappelman School of Piano, Joan Simmons School of the Dance, Coastal Carolina Doll Club of Conway, SC, and President of Folly Beach Garden Club in 1965. She also was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Independence, VA. Survivors include children, Richard Shubrick Pinckney, III of Independence, VA, Clarence Dobbs Pinckney and wife, Beth, of Pumpkin Center, NC, Anita Louise Pinckney of Palatka, FL, and Benjamin Arthur Pinckney of Independence, VA; sister, Suzanne Louise Hardwicke and husband, Wayne, of Charleston, SC; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2023, beginning at 7:00PM at High Country Services with Austin Pinckney officiating. Burial will be in the St. James Episcopal Church Cemetery, Charleston, SC. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until time for the service at High Country Services.
