Greta Ann Bjørntvedt Thompson passed away November 7, 2025 in Ada, OK. Greta Ann Bjørntvedt Thompson was born May 13, 1937 in Wilmington Delaware to Harold Carsten and Thora Marie Bjørntvedt. Her sister Gerd, was 9, and their bond was rock solid from the start. Before her first birthday, Gretas mother was called home to Norway, and Greta spent her first decade in her parents hometown, Kragerø. After WW2 they were able to return to the US, and her family settled in Dundalk, Maryland. Which is where she graduated high school in 1956. She met a handsome young Marine named, Charles E. (Chuck)Thompson, while still in school and they snuck off to Fort Holabird and got married just after Christmas, 1955. After graduating from Dundalk High School, Greta joined Chuck at Camp LeJune, until the Corps sent them to Hawaii, where their son Charles Bjørn was born in 1957. From there they went to Twenty-Nine Palms, CA. Their family grew again with the arrival of their first daughter, Kristina Bjørg, in 1959 During Chuck's service, and three tours of duty in Vietnam, the family moved from California to Virginia, to Okinawa, and back to Dundalk, which served as the families "home base" during Chuck's time in the Marine Corps. Chuck's last commission is what ultimately brought the family to Oklahoma, as he was the Marine Liaison at the Army Ammunition Depot in McAlester. After his retirement in the summer of 74, they settled in Ada Oklahoma. That winter their second daughter, Karah-Marie joined the family, and was affectionately called their "Retirement surprise". Greta and Chuck found a loving church family at First Presbyterian in Ada, and Greta soon became very involved in the life of the church. She was a member of Guardians, Presbyterian Women, PEO, Toastmasters, Sons Of Norway, and served on the task force that brought the Meals on Wheels program to Ada in the late 70's early 80's.

Greta was very proud of her Norwegian heritage. For many years she opened up her home to the local grade schools, and class by class, they'd bring children in for her "Christmas in Norway" program. They would leave full of Norwegian cookies, chocolate, and knowledge of her beautiful home country. Greta was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Thora, her sister Gerd, her beloved husband Chuck, and her very best childhood friend Britt.

Greta is survived by her son BJ, his wife Tami and their two children Sarah and Charles Isaac (Chuck), her daughter Kristina Glick and husband Wally, and their children Will (wife Kim) Glick and Norah (husband Wes) Braswell, and daughter Karah-Marie and her son Karsten Corbin. Great Grands, Liam Glick, Shawn Nguyen, and Sebastian, Kristian, and Aurora Braswell.

The Celebration of her very full life will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 14th at her beloved First Presbyterian Church of Ada OK. She'll be interred, at a later date, at Arlington National Cemetery, right there with Chuck.
