Where do I begin! Gretchen was one of my closest friends when we were neighbors at Shady Brook Acres from 1975 to 1980. Caleb and Caliann were our oldest son's first friends. We also played volleyball together, which was so much fun. She and I would often be outside in our yards hanging
out laundry at the same time (all those cloth diapers!) We'd end up chatting outside, and also many times chatted at our trash barrels. About a year after we moved away from New Ulm, my mother passed away. Gretchen sent a beautiful card and wonderful letter that I cherish to this day! Gretchen knew what I was going through since she had lost her mother when still in high school. In recent years, we reconnected again through FB, and she was a confident and helped me through some difficult situations I was having with a grandchild. I know she prayed for me often for me and our grandchild.
We had hoped to see each other in May of 2018, since I had come to New Ulm for a school program. However, she came down with a nasty cold, and had to cancel.
I will miss this wonderful, caring, Christian friend! My heartfelt sympathy to Dwight, and all her wonderful children and grandchildren. Cherish the many wonderful memories you have of her! She is now rejoicing in Heaven with her Lord and Saviour!
