Grover Cleveland "GC" Hatfield, 90, of Raceland, KY, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 9, 2025, while under the compassionate care of Hospice at the Lantern at Morning Pointe in Russell. Born on February 6, 1935, in Belfry, KY, Grover was the son of the late Basil and Elizabeth Smith Hatfield. A proud 1954 graduate of Belfry High School, he went on to serve his country with honor as a member of the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne Division. Grover was a devoted member of Wurtland Missionary Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a deacon, trustee, and longtime choir member. His love for the Lord was evident in the life he lived and the service he gave to others. A man of many talents, Grover was a former barber and retired as a security guard from Armco/AK Steel through Johnson Controls. He also co-owned the Country Bow-Kay Flower Shop, where he became well known for delivering flowers - often with a song and a smile. An avid outdoorsman, Grover enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bike riding. However, his greatest joy came from cheering on his grandchildren in their sports and supporting his beloved Raceland Rams, a passion he proudly carried for over 50 years. Grover was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Judith Stanley Hatfield, in 2014; his siblings Pauline Layne, Opal (Lon) Bailey, Ruth Robinson, Betty (Ermil) Coleman, Eugene Hatfield, Fred (Charlene) Hatfield, Ralph (Loretta) Hatfield; brother-in-law Curt Bell; and in-laws Joe and Ruby Stanley. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Kathy (Bob) Coffee of Raceland, KY; son John Mark (Crissy) Hatfield of Alexandria, KY; grandchildren Kayla Coffee and Josh Hatfield; sister Glendine Bell; brother Cecil (Sheb) Hatfield; sister-in-law Wanda Hatfield; brothers-in-law Rudolph Layne and John Cecil Robinson; a host of nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Gloria Hunt and family. A celebration of Grover's life will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Music Family Funeral Home in Greenup, KY, officiated by Pastor J.R. Gullett and Bro. Hayden Hunt. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast with military honors provided by the Ceredo/Kenova American Legion Post #93. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Grover's honor to Community Hospice of Ashland, KY. Arrangements are under the care of Music Family Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.mfhfuneralhome.com.
