Grover Lee Kiser, 82, of Marion, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024 at the Charles George VA Medical Center.

 

A native of Marion, he was born August 3, 1941 to the late John Millard Kiser, Sr. and Clara Wall Kiser. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Claude Kiser.

 

Grover was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He followed in his father’s footsteps as a brick and block mason, and he later worked as a superintendent in commercial construction for 40 years. He will be remembered as out-going and one who enjoyed telling a good joke or pulling a prank. He was formerly involved in community sports as a referee and umpire. Grover was an avid golfer who also enjoyed fishing with family and friends.

 

He is survived by his wife, Mili Kiser; two daughters, Kim Kiser Hemphill and Karen Kiser King (William); two stepsons, Alan Harris (Diane) and Otik Harris; three grandchildren, Morgan Hemphill Brinkman (Erich), Mark David Perez, Jr., and Mackenzie Leigh Hemphill; and two siblings, Millard Kiser, Jr. and Jean Kiser Hensley (David).

 

A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Cross Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cross Memorial Baptist Church, PO Box 1124, Marion, NC 28752.
