Guenter Woosmann

Guenter Franz Gustav Woosmann, age 86 of Gillett, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024 with family by his side. Guenter was born on August 31, 1938 to the late Erich and Berta (Meckelburg) Woosmann in Elbing, Germany. Guenter joined the German Navy at 19 years old and served for 6 years. While in the Navy, he traveled to the Great Lakes Naval Base in Chicago and met his wife, Olga Mantai. They eventually settled in Chicago and moved to Gillett in 1975. Guenter worked for Midcentral Tool/S&M Machining in Oconto Falls for over 30 years. He was a member of Faith United Lutheran Church in Gillett where he faithfully attended.
Guenter is survived by his wife, Olga; children, Heike (Mark) Logic, Mike (Jackie) Woosmann and Rainer Woosmann; grandchildren, Alex, Claire, Zach, Erika, Luke, Lauryn, Nicholas, Dylan and Noah; 3 great-grandchildren, Easton, Brinley and Ellie.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jeff.
Visitation will be held on Saturday December 14, 2024 at Faith United Lutheran Church in Gillett from 11 am until the funeral service at 12 pm with Pastor Steven Stoll officiating. Guenter will be interred at Wanderer's Rest Cemetery following the services. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Serenity Gardens, Gillett.
The family would like to thank the angels of Serenity Gardens and Unity Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Guenter. He always said, "they take such good care of me here". Thank you to Pastor John Laatsch for all the friendship and ministry over the years.
