Guido A. Maiolo, 87, of Ridgefield, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. He was the loving husband of Toni (Calder) Maiolo. Mr. Maiolo was born on December 16, 1937, in Nardodipace, Italy, son of the late Guglielmo Maiolo and Maria Concetta Maiolo.
A longtime resident of Ridgefield, Mr. Maiolo was "Coach" to many. Coach Maiolo guided the Ridgefield High School varsity football team to their first-ever State Championship in 1983. He was inducted into the Ithaca College 1950's All Decade Team, and Blessed Sacrament High School Hall of Fame. Outside of coaching, Mr. Maiolo's faith was key to his life. A devout Catholic and member of Saint Mary's Church and The Knights of Columbus, he lived a life that emulated his faith.
Mr. Maiolo is survived by his wife, Toni; his children, Christine Maiolo Gardiner and her husband, Steve, Mike Maiolo and his fiancée, Kate Maloney, Brian Maiolo and his wife, Lisa Gajda Maiolo. Mr. Maiolo is also survived by his grandchildren: Matthew, his fiancée Mara, Trevor, Kate, Gabe, Anna, Luca and Ava. In addition, he is survived by his older brother Al Maiolo and extended family of Maiolo relatives.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Mary's Church, 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Interment will take place privately.
