Gurlie Mae Allen Joslin, 93, 0f Dyersburg, Tennessee, died on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at her home.

Gurlie was a Christian & a lifelong member of RoEllen Baptist Church. Gurlie was born March 22, 1931, in Camden, Tennessee to Frank and Pairesettie Allen. She married Everett Joslin in July 1954.

Mrs. Joslin began working at an early age chopping and picking cotton and strawberries. She then worked at F.W. Woolworth in Dyersburg. After marrying she & Everett moved to Chicago where she worked at a cookie factory and at TV Chassie. Upon their return to Dyersburg, she worked at Dyersburg Hospital as a housekeeper. After a few years of retirement, she sat with two delightful ladies in their later years of life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her devoted husband, and brothers: Grady, Lozell, Harold Gildon (Slim), James Limon Allen, Carnell, Horace and sister, Bertha Mildred Allen Barr.

Those left to honor Mrs. Gurlie's memory are sisters: Betty Carr of Dyersburg & Dorothy Powers of Leighton, Alabama. Also, many nieces & nephews as well as cousins & close friends will remember her with deep compassion for her love and kindness.

Graveside services for Mrs. Joslin will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Dyer County Memorial Garden. Officiating this service will be Dr. Dustin Pence and Mr. Patrick Williams. Friends are asked to gather at the cemetery.

Honoring Mrs. Joslin as pallbearers will be Shawn Criswell, Kevin Joslin, Jimmy Sentell, Jeff Jones, Jared Lee, and Terry Preslar.

The family asks that memorial contributions be directed to Mrs. Joslin's charities of choice Alzheimer's Disease Research, BrightFocus Foundation, 22512 gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, MD 20871 or the Dyer County Community Cancer Fund, 620 A Mall Blvd., PO Box 1055, Dyersburg, TN. 38024
