Charlotte Gussie Alma Crisp Helms, age 95, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House, Huntersville. A native of Caldwell County, she was the daughter of the late Horry and Annie Bryant Crisp, wife of the late Heath Helms. She worked in the Shell Plant during WWII, enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter Mary B. Mumford of Concord, son Marshall Bryant of Charlotte, sister Mabel Whisnant of Lenoir, grandchildren; Mark Whittington, Wayne (Shea) Mumford, Randy (Pamela) Mumford, Nancy Bryant, Debbie Dotson, Holly (Monte) Welsh, great grandchildren; Jennifer Gallihugh, Sydney Whittington, Elizabeth Bryant, Jessie Mumford, Monica Dotson, Emerson Mumford and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Gussie was preceded in death by a daughter Mattie Bryant, grandson Officer Tim Whittington and nine brothers and sisters. Funeral Services will be officiated by Rev. Jerry Woolery at 12:00 pm, Tuesday at McLean Funeral Directors of Belmont, Bumgardner Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:45 am prior to the service. Interment will be 3:00 pm at Sunset Memory Gardens, Mint Hill. Memorials may be sent to Cornerstone Baptist Church, 9847 Albemarle Rd., Charlotte, NC 28227. Share condolences with the family by visiting www.mcleanfuneral.com and signing the guestbook.
