GUY TIMOTHY "TIM" GANNON

February 6, 1941 – January 20, 2026

Guy Timothy "Tim" Gannon, 84 passed away peacefully at his cabin in Indianola, WA, surrounded by his family. Tim was born in Bakersfield, CA on February 6, 1941 to Joseph and Margaret (Thompson) Gannon. He attended East Bakersfield High School and graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder. He met his wife, Elinor Vivian (Vicky) Ellis, while studying at the University of Franche-Compte in Besanson, France back when studying abroad was not common. Tim and Vicky were kindred spirits and spent the next 62 years together.

He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Margaret, and his sister Mary Lee Hutson. He is survived by his wife, Vicky, his daughter, Indie Feduniw (Chris), his son, Joe Gannon (Jenny), and six grandchildren: Alyssa and Amber Feduniw, Annabelle, Luke, Brandon, and Ruby Gannon.

As a boy, Tim worked on crews for the family construction business. After college he continued to work in the construction and property development business. He particularly enjoyed rehabilitating historic office buildings. When his son was grown, they worked together to build a water treatment business. He refused to officially retire. He was very proud of being involved in a business that helped protect our environment and natural resources. He believed deeply in being fair and honest in business and in life.

He was very proud of the work he did building the family cabin in Camp Nelson as a young man, where family and friends spent years gathering together. After he and Vicky moved to Seattle, he enjoyed planning and building another cabin so he could retreat to nature.

Tim lived life on his own terms. He continued to play handball and fly his float plane into his eighties. He loved nature and adventure. Luckily for so many of us, he was more than happy to bring whoever was around along for the ride. His countless adventures included European travel with Vicky, downhill and cross-country skiing, countless trips rafting the Kern river, motorcycle riding in Baja, float fishing trips in Alaska, scuba diving, and many others. One day he rounded up a bunch of neighborhood kids in his pickup truck, and drove them to sign up for a newly founded soccer league. He coached many of those kids for years and then played with them in adult leagues when they were grown. While it certainly could be said that not all of his activities went smoothly, he built a lifetime of experiences and memories that are treasured by many.

Tim had a profound impact on so many people throughout his life. His independent streak did not prevent him from getting to know people wherever he was- be it the neighborhood, work, or a bar in Ireland. He delighted in sitting around telling his version of stories and laughing with friends, family and strangers. He felt everyone deserved respect and kindness, and he went out of his way to help people as they moved through life. For all of us who were fortunate enough to know him, he will be deeply missed.

A memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help on February 13th at 10:00 am: 124 Columbus St., Bakersfield, CA. A graveside service will be held at GreenLawn Cemetery NE on February 14th at 10:00am: 3700 River Blvd., Bakersfield, CA.

I knew Tim through his mother Margaret Gannon, my neighbor.
Margaret would tell stories about Tim building their cabin at Camp Nelson with his dad Joe. And he did this at the ripe old age of seventeen! It would become a lifelong commitment.
And she shared how much he loved working in nature.
Even to the point of running away from home when a small child and hiding in a tree! He was as delightful as he was a dedicated family man.
The first time I met Tim was because I was avoiding being arrested by Sonitrol! I had gone to see Margaret, found her doors unlocked and the house empty. I did not know the house had a burglar alarm. I went home to call Tim and he said his mom was him, and they'd gone shopping, and forgot to lock the back door.
I didn't realize I'd just missed the Sonitrol patrol car.
Tim was laughing at the fact that it wonderful someone went to check on his mom but he sure would hate to have to bail me out of jail for breaking and entering.
That was the Gannon household.

Tim was devoted to his family. Joey and Indie grew up being active in sports with Timmy on the side lines or with them, on the field, in the mountains, in the ocean, or on the slopes. He taught them adventure. He was an avid handball player for his entire life right up 83. He was a beautiful and talented carpenter and made many pieces of furniture in their homes. Flying was his passion. He flew to wilderness spots in his float plane to fish and enjoy nature. Timmy loved entertaining and having a bunch of friends and family around the table.
He leaves behind a beautiful set of memories of funny and adventurous adventures with friends and family. Oh, he makes the strongest coffee to rival any Italian or Frenchman.

As a college friend of Joe, if Mr. Gannon was anything like Joe, I cannot imagine all the lives he touched during his years on this earth. Sending condolences and hugs to the Gannon and extended family. What a life well-lived. So sorry for your loss.
