Guy Sumner Moore went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 1:28 p.m.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Osborn Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. Dr. John Sullivan of Broadmoor Baptist Church will officiate. Graveside services will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.
Mr. Moore was a native of Bossier City, LA. He was born on March 9, 1932, to Andrew F. Moore, Sr. and Texas Sumner Moore. Guy attended Bossier Elementary and Bossier High School, where he ran track and played basketball. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1954 with a degree in business. For 45 years he worked in the insurance business, owning Snow, Moore and Mears Agency as well as Moore and Mears Agency. Guy then went on to work for three more years for Querbes and Nelson Insurance Agency, before retiring. He was an active member of North Highlands Methodist Church, a faithful Sunday School attendee, and served on their board and the Ramp Ministry, building over 100 ramps for those in need. He was a member of SCORE, Shreveport Corp of Retired Executives, where he counseled future local business owners. Guy was a faithful husband and father to wife, Glynn Chambers Moore, and children, David Guy Moore, Randall Franklin Moore, and Elizabeth Moore Light. He loved the Lord and was a believer in Jesus Christ. He also loved animals and had a constant menagerie of pets for his family, including horses, pigeons, dogs, cats, hamsters, etc. He loved being outside, working in the yard, being at his property in Blanchard, LA, and fishing in the pond, especially with his grandchildren. He was always ready to help a friend, family member or stranger in need.
Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife. He is survived by his children, Elizabeth Moore Light and husband Creighton, David Guy Moore, and Randall Franklin Moore and wife Pam Mathews Moore; five grandchildren, Matthew Light and wife Paige, Madelyn Light Brannon and husband Austin, Sumner Moore Dreher and husband Brian, Nathan Everett Moore and Audrey Anne Moore; three great-grandchildren, Georgiana Claire Light, Josephine Paige Light and Mary Catherine Brannon; and his brother, Andrew F. Moore, Jr.
Honoring him as pallbearers will be Creighton Light, Gary Moore, Sid Campbell, Matthew Light, Austin Brannon and James Light.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Heritage Manor Stratmore Nursing Home and staff, Bristol Hospice staff for their excellent care, Dr. John Sullivan and Dr. Larry Williams of Broadmoor Baptist Church for their many visits.
