Dowell
Guy Albert "Pa" Whitecotton, 68, of Dowell and formerly of Cambria, passed away on November 1, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with the Rev. R.H. Chitwood officiating and reflections by family. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to Perry County Humane Society, 8365 State Route 14, DuQuoin, IL 62832-4051.
Guy was born on May 3, 1957, in Dixon, Illinois, to Albert Marion and Mary Elizabeth (Skeffington) Whitecotton.
He is survived by his daughter, Hally Kissiar (Wayne Miller); son, Michael Wade (Rhonda Crosby); brother, Darius (Yvonne) Wallace; sisters, Crystal (Steve) Mitchell, Christine Aguayo, and Rita Cannon; grandchildren, Caleb (Madison) Vogel, Abbigale Mocaby, Mason Rohach, Hattie Miller, Maisy Wade, Alexandria Wade, and Michael Robert Wade; plus his beloved pets, Tater and Patches.
He was preceded by his parents, and stepbrother, Jerry Lauderdale.
Guy worked as a heavy equipment operator for more than 30 years before retiring from M.A. Mortenson Construction. He also worked for many years at Walkers Bluff, caring for the grounds and grapevines. He loved spending time outdoor fishing and camping with his grandkids, tending to his garden, and riding his dirt bike and Harley. He was incredibly proud of his grandchildren and could be found on the sidelines cheering them on every chance he got! He also enjoyed karaoke nights and hanging out with friends, sharing stories and laughter. There never was a better storyteller or friend.
