Gwen Olene (Fleitman) Richter, age 70, longtime resident of Gainesville, TX, passed away on May 7th, 2025 in her home in Irving, TX.

Gwen is survived by her daughter, Angela Floyd and spouse Larry Floyd, her two grandchildren Jessica and Zachary Stone, and her older brother, Roger Fleitman, and her beloved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her longtime spouse, Chuck Richter, father and mother Albert and Ira Fleitman, as well as her two brothers Douglas and Glenn Ray Fleitman.

Gwen was born on November 1st, 1954 in Muenster, TX to Albert and Ira (Thetford) Fleitman. She was the youngest of four, being the only daughter. She graduated from Muenster High School in 1972 and was a long time employee of Gainesville Printing Company only retiring after 48 years when she lost her vision. She was a familiar face at the local VFW where she had been an active member of the Auxiliary and even worked some weekends. She was a proud supporter of the local community of war veterans and took every chance she had to support them by volunteering at various events to help raise money for the Auxiliary for many years.

First and foremost, she loved spending time with her daughter, son-in-law and grandkids as well as her brother. Since retiring, she spent much of her time on the phone with old friends sharing stories and reminiscing on the past. She enjoyed going on trips with her family and spending as much time with her “grand dogs” as possible. She had a sharp sense of humor and was never afraid to speak her mind. She loved to enjoy a good margarita at whatever the closest Tex-Mex restaurant was and would always try to sneak a second (or third) if you got up when the waiter came to the table. She cared deeply for those around her and many looked to her for support or advice in good times and bad. There aren’t many people that have interacted with her that wouldn’t at least have one story that would leave you shaking your head but she had a way of always leaving you smiling after the conversation was over. She lived a full life and loved people well, she will be so deeply missed by everyone that knew her.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life visitation on Saturday, May 10th anytime from 6-7:30PM at George J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home at 602 Lindsay St in Gainesville, TX.
