Gwen Herman was born on January 17, 1941 in St. Louis, MO to Raymond and Grace Graham. She graduated from Eureka High School in Eureka, MO before attending South East Missouri State College in Cape Girardeau, MO for two years. Gwen married Gary Herman on January 19, 1963 in Webster Groves Christian Church in St. Louis, MO. Together, Gwen and Gary raised three children.
Gwen was a homemaker for many years before working in retail, becoming store manager of a high-end children’s clothing store. She later worked in medical records and medical reception until retirement. Gwen and Gary traveled throughout their 62-year marriage, including trips to England, Scotland, Germany, Switzerland, Mexico, Hawaii, and Alaska. Often, the couple traveled with Gwen’s sister Faye who was her best friend. Gwen loved collecting birds, birdhouses, and gnomes in her later years.
Gwen is preceded in death by her parents; brother: Ray (Marybelle) Graham; sister: Faye Bopp; and brother-in-law: Larry Bopp. Gwen is survived by her husband: Gary Herman; their son: David; daughter: Deborah (Jeff); and son: Eric (Heather); grandchildren: Sarah Mach, Ethan Mach, Ryan Herman, and Ryley Herman; along with her sister-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Gwen will be greatly missed and our family is grateful for all the support of family and friends. Donations to Aegis Hospice in Omaha, NE in lieu of flowers are appreciated.
