Gwendolyn "Gwen" Dillander, a beacon of warmth and laughter, passed away on January 18 2025, at the age of 65. Born on October 27, 1959, Gwendolyn brought joy to all who knew her with her funny and kind spirit.
Gwen had a remarkable ability to find happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She cherished her time spent at the Kentucky Derby, reveling in the excitement of the races, surrounded by friends and family. Her love for these moments reflected her devotion to creating a lively and joyful atmosphere, one that her loved ones will always remember.
Family was the cornerstone of Gwen's life. She took immense pride in her son and grandchildren, celebrating every milestone in their lives with enthusiasm that illuminated their hearts. Her nurturing nature and support were unwavering, making her not just a mother and grandmother, but a cherished confidante and friend.
In her leisure time, Gwen found joy in playing Bingo and trying her luck with the lottery, always embracing the thrill of the game. Additionally, her fur baby, Toby, held a special place in her heart. Together, they shared countless moments of comfort and companionship, and now she is joyfully reunited with him at the Golden Gates.
The loss of Gwen leaves an irreplaceable void, but the laughter and love she shared will resonate in the hearts of all who knew her. Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life and legacy during the visitation on January 26, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. A funeral service will follow the next day on January 27, 2025, starting at 1:00 PM, with graveside services at Resthaven Cemetery, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218.
Gwen Dillander will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her humorous spirit, her kindness, and the love she so freely gave to her family and friends throughout her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jullian Wood and Norma Hawkins; brother, Jimmy Dale Wood; sister, Ramona Gail Taylor and niece, Amanda Castro.
Gwen leaves to cherish her memories, her son, Justin Huffines; grandchildren, Kolten, Harmony, Kyzen and Gracelynn; sisters, Judy (Alex) Ganey, Shelia Daniel and Clarissa Wood and many nieces and nephews.
