Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pivont Funeral Home - Hinton on Dec. 2, 2025.
Gwendolyn Joyce "Gwen" Fullen, 80, of Hardy, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 30, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born May 26, 1945, in
Hinton, West Virginia, she was the eldest daughter of the late Laura L. (Fralin) Banks and Cornelius E. Banks.
An avid reader with a quick wit and a warm spirit, Gwen had a gift for finding the good in any situation. Her sharp mind and sense of humor were matched only by the kindness she extended to everyone she met.
Gwen's kindness and compassion lead her to her calling as a nurse's aide. By nature and profession she devoted her life to nursing and caring for others.
She never forgot a birthday or holiday-family and friends could always count on finding one of Gwen's thoughtful cards in their mailbox. That was her love language, and she shared it freely. Gwen also found joy in gardening, quilting, and reading every book she could get her hands on. She adored murder mysteries and old Westerns, and all who knew her well, knew better than to call while The Rifleman was on.
A devoted member of Camen Baptist Church, Gwen married and raised her five children in faith and community with the late Robert "Bobby" M. Fullen Sr. (former husband).
Gwen was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Earl Banks, Donald Banks, and Edward "Sarge" Banks; her son Robert "Marsh" Fullen Jr.; and her son-in-law Harry Twyman.
She leaves behind her loving children: Tonya Fullen (Lawrence) of Fayetteville, GA; Angela Twyman of
Hinton, WV; Rhonda Williams (Steven) of Columbus, OH; and Phillip Fullen (Sheri) of Hardy, VA. She is also survived by her sisters, Glenna Jo Oliver of Charlotte, NC; Judy Weber of Frederick, MD; and Janice Banks of Dunbar, WV; and by her devoted lifelong friend, Margaret "Duckie" Nelson of
Hinton, WV. Gwen's legacy continues through her grandchildren-Justin, Corey, Candace, Keisha, Natasha, Stephen, Jordan, Maya, Anthony, Alec, and Taylor-along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Gwen's warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her presence will be deeply missed, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and all who loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, December 5, 2025 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in
Hinton, WV with Pastor Matthew Saunders officiating. Burial will follow at the Roselawn Cemetery in Princeton. Friends may visit from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Friday.
