Gwendolyn Hill Willis, affectionately known as Gwen, was born on October 28, 1954, in Los Angeles, California. She transitioned into eternal rest on July 30, 2025, at Baptist Integris Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Gwen was a remarkable woman, whose love and passion for life illuminated the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A devoted professional, Gwen carved out a significant career in the legal profession as a paralegal and legal assistant specializing in probates and bankruptcies. Her dedication and competence led her to retire from the practice in 2018, after which she turned her nurturing spirit towards opening her own childcare center, emphasizing her unwavering commitment to the well-being of others. Her legacy is not merely in her professional achievements but in the profound love she extended to everyone around her.
Gwen’s vibrant personality was evident in all her endeavors, most notably as an advocate for individuals with disabilities. She traveled far and wide to offer assistance to those less fortunate, often putting their needs before her own. Gwen was a true servant of God, embodying kindness and generosity, always ready to lend an ear or offer sage advice when it was needed most. Her home was a sanctuary, welcoming all who sought her support.
An esteemed member of the Chosen Peoples of God Church, Gwen’s faith underscored her interactions with others and enriched the lives of everyone within her community. Gwen moved to Oklahoma City 49 years ago from Ardmore, where she attended Central High School, and this city became the place where her compassionate spirit truly flourished.
In addition to her impressive career and advocacy work, Gwen’s creativity shone through her passion for event planning. She took immense joy in orchestrating impeccable gatherings, particularly for her granddaughter's wedding and various family events. No detail was too small; everything had to be just perfect, a testament to the deep love and attention she devoted to family and friends, especially shared with her beloved Ursula.
Gwen is survived by her cherished children, Baeyan N. Brown and Dawnelaina of Oklahoma City, and Ursula Hill, who is engaged to LyDell Williams, also of Oklahoma City. Her spirit will continue to live on through her special niece, Ronesha Roberts, who she helped raise alongside her husband, Derrick of Ardmore. She will be lovingly remembered by her boyfriend, Bobby M. McCarty, and a multitude of dear cousins, including Joyce Ann Musgrove, Carolyn Lima, Karen Smith, and Betty Ruth Banks, as well as her 16 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
Gwen was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Hamilton Brown, father, Roscoe Hill, two brothers, Donald and Marcus Hill, a sister, Brenda Kay Brown, a special nephew, Rondre Hornbeak, and Uncle & Aunt, Delbert and I.V. Hamilton.
