Harold Burton was born February 27, 1929, to Harold and Emily (Jones) Williams in Mankato, MN. In 1947, he graduated from Lake Crystal High School. Burt served his country in the National Guard and was activated into duty with the US Army as a corporal from 1950-1952 during the Korean conflict.
On July 29, 1951, Burt was united in marriage to LaVern (Fitzloff) at St. John’s Lutheran Church in St. Clair, MN. They were blessed with five children.
Burt was a lifelong farmer and mowed his lawn at his acreage until he was 95 years old. He loved his wife and family. Additionally, Burt was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was one of the pillars of his community and served as one of the church’s deacons. His was one of the most cherished voices in the church’s choir for more than 70 years.
Burt was an active member of the local 4-H Club, Holstein Association, Gymanfa Ganu (Welsh Singing Festival), Lion’s Club and the Lake Crystal American Legion Post 294, where he served as chaplain for several years.
Burt enjoyed traveling (especially the bus tour he and LaVern took together), telling stories, spending time with family and friends and the many memories made with their card club.
Throughout Burt’s life, he was dedicated to helping others. Even after retiring, he enjoyed helping by working with GM Contracting and Crystal Valley Coop. In his final weeks, he blessed all who tended to his care from the ambulance ride, to the emergency room, to the hospital and finally to Living Meadows. The kindness, peace, love and joy that he displayed were the fruits of the Spirit that he shown brightly for His Lord.
He is survived by his five children, Shari Williams of Miami, FL, Larry Williams of San Diego, CA, Brian (Ramona) Williams of Le Sueur, MN, David Williams of Mankato, MN, Lee (Jeanne) Williams of Lake Crystal, MN; seven grandchildren, Christopher (Chealy) and Jonathon (Melissa) Williams, Ashley (Rob) McHugh and Briana (Nick) Cramer, Leah (Jake) Paulson, Kevin (Lynette) Williams and Jena Williams; sixteen great grandchildren with two additional members to arrive soon; sister-in-law, Joan Williams; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Burt was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; LaVern; one brother; five sister-in-laws; five brother-in-laws; two nephews and one niece.
He will be sorely missed by all.
The family wishes to thank you for the support, prayers and love extended in his final journey home.
