H. McCabe Obituary

Northfield - H. Thomas McCabe reunited with his Bride in the early hours of September 1, 2025, in the home he and Vurlyn built for their family with his son Timothy by his side.

Harold Thomas McCabe was born in Minneapolis Minnesota to Harold and Darlyne (Davis) McCabe. Tom attended Mpls. public schools, and graduated from Roosevelt Senior High in 1962. After graduation, Tom studied at the Academy of Accountancy, and went to work for the Grazzini firm as a CPA, before establishing the partnership of Hallberg, Lee and McCabe where he toiled as a CPA, financial advisor, trustor and wore many other "hats" throughout his professional life. Anything with numbers was right up his alley. Tom never fully retired, and continued to do work for a handful of special clients.

Tom met his future bride while they attended Roosevelt. After marrying the apple of his eye, Vurlyn Mary (Smith), on October 30th 1965, at St. Kevins Catholic church in Mpls. They began a family together and were blessed with eleven children.

Tom lived his life with unwavering conviction of faith in God, our Creator and all His promises. He shared his faith in all his dealings throughout his life. Tom was the epitomy of strength and was a force to be reckoned with. He was always known for his quick wit and sometimes sharp tongue. Tom's accomplishments in his life were many. Toms unconditional love and selflessness was unmatched. To be one of Tom and Vurlyns clan is an honor, with big shoes to fill and a legacy to uphold.

H.Thomas was preceded in death by the love that started it all, his bride Vurlyn Mary; parents, Harold and Darlyne McCabe; and grandsons, Simon Andrew McCabe and Casey Thomas Nelson.

He was survived by his children, Sean (Debbie), Matt (Angie), Theresa, all of Mpls, Thomas (Barb) of Webster, Erin (Chris) of Bloomington, Kelly (Mitch) of Blaine, Joel (Krissy), Maureen (Wayne), Tim, Dan (Rochelle) and Brigid Anne, all of Northfield; 52 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and brother, Mike (Phyllis) of Bloomington.

H.T. fought the good fight until the end of his earthly journey and is now all around guiding, loving, and protecting "His people" with his bride and God at the helm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Annunciation Catholic Church in Hazelwood. Visitaiton will be from 4-7 PM, Monday, September 8, 2025, at Bierman, Benson & Langehough Funeral Home in Northfield and will continue one hour prior to mass at the church.
