Mrs. Hal Faye Curry Porter passed away May 19, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent's Chilton in Clanton, Alabama. The date marks the occasion of what would have been her 71st wedding anniversary. She was with her son, Wayne Porter. She was born December 12, 1934, in Dry Valley in northern Chilton County to Mr. Hal Curry and Mrs. Lexa Watson Curry. She had one brother, John; all have predeceased her. She attended Jemison High School and The University of Montevallo.
She married The Reverend Alvin M. Porter in 1953. Together they served many churches in the Chilton County area. She retired from the University of Montevallo and spent her retirement taking even more active roles in her husband's ministry and working in her beloved bed flower gardens and caring for her pets.
Surviving are her son, Wayne Porter; sister-in-law, Mrs. Carolyn Curry and her children Stacy and Amanda, their children and grandchildren; nieces, Betty Benson and Linda Williams and their children and grandchildren; beloved fur-baby, Nick; and very special adopted daughter, Pam Price.
Services will be held Monday, May 20, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. at Pates Chapel Baptist Church with The Reverend Gary Jones officiating. A private interment will take place Tuesday morning in Midway Memorial Gardens, Jemison, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Little Star Chihuahua Rescue in Montgomery, Alabama, or to The Chilton County Humane Society, or to the Senior Adult Ministry at Pates Chapel Baptist Church.
