Hal Emsley Harwood, 82, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023, at home.

Hal was a wonderful son, husband, father and grandfather.  He was a hard worker and co-owner of Piedmont Electric for nearly 45 years with his late brother, Sherwood.  He was also chief of the Millingport Volunteer Fire Deptartment for many years.  After retirement, Hal created Little Creek Musical Park to share bluegrass and gospel music to encourage fellowship within the community.  He was a deacon at Running Creek Primitive Baptist Church where he faithfully served the lord.  Hal married the love of his life, Kay, on July 4th after Kay graduated from high school, and remained happily married for over 60 years.  Hal had a great sense of humor and never met a stranger.  He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include wife, Kay Lee Harwood; sons, James Douglas (Tiffany Ann) Harwood and Michael Lee (Starla) Harwood; grandchildren, Corey, Grady, Megan, and Maddie Harwood; sisters, Betty Hurlocker and Patricia (Doug) Thompson.
