Hampton George Jackson, 78, died December 9, 2025 at Gulfside Hospice, Zephyrhills Florida, following a brief illness. He was born in Allagash December 11, 1946, the son of the late Preston and Lola (Jones) Jackson. Hampton was a graduate of Caribou High School and served with the US Army during Vietnam. He was employed as a transportation manager with McCain Transport for a number of years and retired from ABC Trucking in Presque Isle. Hampton was very active in veteran’s groups and causes over the years including being a life member of the Henry B. Pratt Post 15 American Legion where he held numerous positions including post commander. He was also a life member of the Lister Knowlton Post 9389 VFW as well as AMVETS. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of several area golf Clubs and was also a member of the Moose Lodge in Zephyrhills, where he enjoyed spending the winter months. He was also a long-time member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He married the love of his life, Theresa Daigle Sept. 30, 1966 and they spent 38 years together until her passing in 2004. Later in life he married Shelley Barnes O’Rourke, who took great care of him during their marriage. He is survived by two sons and one daughter, Hampton R. Jackson and wife Lynn, Craig Jackson and friend Jessica Dempsey all of Caribou, and Jennifer Thompson and husband Darin of Poland, Maine. Four grandsons; Preston Jackson, Nicholas Jackson and wife Taylor, Hunter Jackson and friend Meg Gagnon and Michael Girouard. One granddaughter Maddison Jackson. A great grandson Archer Jackson. One sister, Betty Ann Wilcox and husband Mike of Woodland, Two brothers, Carlton Jackson and wife Diane of Zephyrhills, and Paul Ouellette and wife Lynn of Presque Isle. Sister-in-law Emily Daigle of Presque Isle and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Deanna and Wayne Little of Caribou. Many special nieces and nephews. Mr. Jackon was predeceased by his parents, his first wife Theresa, an infant son Joseph and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Alfred and Beatrice Daigle. Friends may visit with the family at the Mockler Funeral Home 24 Reservoir St Caribou Monday December 29, 2025 from 4:00pm until time of services which will be held at the funeral home at 6:00pm. Interment will be in the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery.
