Hannah Ruth Butler

Hannah Ruth (Hunter) Butler passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 87 years old. Hannah Ruth was born into a large family on Wednesday, January 5, 1938. She grew up in Pompano Beach, Florida, and always called it home. Hannah grew up surrounded by many brothers and sisters, farming and going to church with their loving parents, Paul and Lula Hunter. The deep bond they developed in those early years stood the test of time and distance.
Hannah Ruth went off to college as a young woman. She studied Biology at Central State Ohio University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science. It was there that she met Ernest G. Butler III. They fell in love and were married on December 29, 1962. In time, the couple welcomed their daughter, Darlethia E. Butler, and son, Ernest G. Butler IV, into the world and built a life for their young family in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The couple was active in their new community. They hosted and attended many social gatherings but were also very interested in local government. Still, they were best known as loving, doting parents who did their best to instill a love of God and the value of education in their children.
Hannah's distinct laugh and happy smile could light up any room, bringing joy and comfort to those around her. Though she is no longer with us, her love and laughter will echo in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
She left behind a legacy of family, including her daughter, Darlethia "Dollie" Butler-Hall; son-in-law, Fernandus E. Hall; son, Ernest G. Butler IV; daughter-in-law, Kimberly R. Butler; her grandchildren, the late Jhalandia E. Butler, Lauren A. Hall and grandson-in-law, the late Derrick Stark, Lindsay T. (Hall) McLamb and grandson-in-law, Matthew S. McLamb, and Ernest G. Butler V; her great-grandchildren, London and Carter Frisby, Alayna Tunning, Alyssa N. Wilcher-Hall, Noah R. S. and Jonah B. S. McLamb; her dear sister, Gloria (Hunter) Brown; brothers, Alonzo Hunter Sr. and Dr. Samuel Hunter; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Hannah Ruth's Life will be on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Logan-Videon Funeral Home, 2001 Sproul Rd., Broomall, PA 19008, where family and friends will be received at 10:00 a.m.
