I am so so very sorry to have learned of his passing! As mentiined to the family while Hans was in hospice, I'm kicking myself for not reaching out the many many times they both came to mind! I adored Hans (and Helen)! I am so grateful that they reached out letting us know his time was near. I had always planned to talk to him and get his wisdom and advice about his gardening "secrets to great soil" and wanted to share a project I'm working on - saving another barn property (this time in Milwaukee of all places). Now I will hold the many fond memories of our get togethers, lunches & thrift shopping, his garden bounty, etc close.
I remember a time Helen asked me (and our mutual friend Ursula) over to "redecorate/rearrange" their living room. Hans came home and really did not care for our suggestions. As soon as we left, he put things back exactly as they were before!
They were both very proud parents/grandparents and spoke often with twinkles in their eyes about the many successes achieved by each.
This obituary was so beautifully written! I enjoyed learning so much about him that I never knew (and unfortunately missed). You captured him perfectly, especially the part of his generosity sharing the high quality of his talents.
I can only imagine the beautiful heavenly journey and reunion Hans shared with Helen, (and probably dancing together on clouds).
May knowing that he lived such a full & qualty life with God in his heart, bring you all the peace & comfort you need during your grief.
With Love and Sympathy,
Brenda & Paul Schaff
