Harold Leroy Aaron, a man of remarkable skill and boundless dedication, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2024, in Greenwood, SC. Born on June 12, 1938, in Panama City, Florida, he was the son of the late Leroy and Jessie Dowdy Aaron.
After high school, Harold answered the call of duty and joined the United States Navy where he specialized in ABC warfare. His commitment to his country continued in the U.S. Coast Guard piloting the Grumman HU-16E Albatross performing search and rescue missions with valor and precision. Following his military service, Harold's unceasing fervor for aviation continued as a corporate pilot for Gulf Oil Company.
Prior to retirement, Harold channeled his passion for aviation by sharing his knowledge and experience with aspiring pilots as a Certified Flight Instructor.
Harold was a member of the Panama City First United Methodist Church until making Lincolnton his home for the past 19 years and attending Lincolnton United Methodist Church.
A man of many interests, Harold was a quintessential handyman always ready to fix anything around the house. He was an active member of the Columbia County Ham Radio Operators Club where he connected with fellow enthusiasts. Crossword puzzles, tinkering, and spending time on the computer were among his favorite pastimes as he was always eager to explore and understand the intricacies of the latest technology.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Janice Krumenauer Aaron; his daughter, Elizabeth Hester Aaron of Brooklyn, NY; his brother, Ralph Aaron (Priscilla) of Biloxi, MS; and his sister, Louise Belew-Silver (Larry) of Tampa, FL. His cherished rescue dog Molly and grand dog Annie will also feel the absence of his gentle presence.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his brothers Robert Aaron, Earl Aaron, and Allen Aaron and his sisters Loretta Spence and Lorene Bryant.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the residence of Mrs. Patricia Moss, 306 Goshen Street, Lincolnton.
Graveside services with military honors were held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 1 o'clock in the afternoon at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, Thomson, GA.
Memorial contributions may be made to Les Feldick Ministries, 30706 W. Lona Valley Road, Kinta, OK, 74552, or visit www.lesfeldick.org.
