Harold Bonds Obituary

Funeral services for Harold Everett Bonds will be conducted Tuesday April 3rd, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. from the Martin Funeral Chapel of Elk City, OK with Dr. Russell Duck and Rev. Darrell Ware officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery of Elk City under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home. Harold Everett Bonds was born February 9, 1943 in Altus OK to Howard and Leota (Henderson) Bonds and passed away Friday March 30, 2012 in Cordell OK at the age of 69. Harold was raised in Altus and graduated from Altus High School. He married Janie Nutley on December 15, 1963 and together they raised one son. He served his country as a member of the 45th infantry during the Viet Nam Conflict. Harold had a 19 year career with the Arkla Gas Company from where he retired as a service manager in 1989. He lived in McAlester OK, and Chickasha OK, before eventually moving to Elk City in 1989. Harold and Janie ran H & J Corner Grocery and later Harold worked for the Elk City Police Department and Pioneer Elementary School as a Maintenance Man. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Doug Bonds, his mother and father-in-law, Joe and Mildred Nutley, and two brother in laws; Jimmy Clark and Jerry Miller. Harold is survived by his wife Janie of the Elk City home, one son Steve Bonds and his wife Misty of Elk City, one granddaughter Ashleigh Bonds of Elk City, one sister Shirley Miller of Altus OK, and a sister-in- law Margaret Clark of Elk City, and a host of family and friends.
