HAROLD BOROSON Obituary

BOROSON HAROLD ROBERT BOROSON "Hal" Died peacefully, Thursday, November 6, 2014, at age 90 in Rochester, NY. He was predeceased by his parents, Morris and Rebecca (Lobel) Boroson; brother, Louis; sister-in-law, Florence Boroson; and grandsons, Scott Boroson and Matthew Boroson. He is survived by four sons, Ronald Ohayv, Ken (Linda Goodman) Boroson, David (Karen) Boroson, and Michael Boroson; 12 grandchildren, Nikolaj, Signe, Lotus, Freja, Zachary, Ethan, Ryan, Manda, Kris, Jared, Daniel and Allie; and three great-grandchildren, Tayler, Macey and Jackson; brother, Bernard (Judy) Boroson. Hal Boroson made a significant contribution to this world both in his relationships and his multiple careers. Raised in the Depression era, Hal understood the importance of education and hard work and he conveyed this work ethic to his children and others. Hal received a BS in Electrical Engineering from Union College (where he played on the basketball team), an MS in Physics from University of Illinois and a PhD in Nuclear Engineering from University of Maryland. He served in the Navy during WWII and spent 15 years at the David Taylor Research Center, where he established and directed research programs for the Navy. Other engineering stints included work at the Naval Research Lab, the Naval Ordinance Lab and Goddard Space Flight Center. In addition to his engineering research and development career, Hal loved mentoring students. He taught engineering at the University of Maryland and Bowie State College for twenty years, was a Cub Scout master, a baseball coach and a member of the Wheaton Forest Civic Association for 27 years. Hal loved magic and was called "Grandpa Magic" by his grandchildren. One life touches many and we were all fortunate to have our lives touched by Hal.
